The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service is an opportunity for each of us to reflect on the principles of equality and selflessness that Dr. King embodied. Dr. King believed in celebrating and promoting the worth of every person. He championed for diverse cultures to live and thrive together in a spirit of love, understanding
Through his example, Dr. King challenged and empowered individuals to take action and lift up their neighbors and communities by volunteering. This January, The Mission Continues is issuing a call to serve through our campaign #LegacyofService.
Report for Duty on MLK Day This January
- Volunteer: We’re holding service events in nearly 50 cities across the country alongside community members in honor of Dr. King, and we’re calling on you to join us and serve with your local service platoon.
- Recruit: Invite and share information about our mission with your friends, family, co-workers, classmates, fraternity/sorority, and other civic groups. All are welcome, and no prior military service is required to volunteer.
- Donate: Show your support by giving $25 in honor of Dr. King’s legacy of service and to continue our mission of service to the people and communities that need us most.
- Join our social movement: Share a photo showing how you’re lifting up your community through service by using the #LegacyofService on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Stuck for ideas? It could be a time when you tutored kids, spruced up a community garden, coached a team, repainted a classroom, or more!
