Gina Rosen recently joined our team as our new Director of Research and Evaluation, and will be based in our Los Angeles office.

  1. What is an exciting challenge your new role faces?_DSC4720-1

My new role was established to try and determine the overarching impact the Mission Continues has on the veterans, communities and children we serve. The challenge is in determining how to best measure that impact.

In order to do that, it is important to understand our goals as an organization. Our goals will guide us in determining if we’ve made the impact we want.  It isn’t until you understand the goals that you can begin to look at what it takes to achieve those goals; we can refer to what it takes as our inputs. By measuring those inputs, we can see what our impact has been and then start to examine how far we’ve come as an organization.

  1. What are you looking forward to most?

I am really looking forward to working with the TMC team that has been working with veterans and local communities to encourage change and growth both for individuals and those communities. I was really drawn to The Mission Continues because of this unique model that tackles so many important issues. Knowing that I can have a role, albeit small, in helping create that change and growth is what excites me the most about this new position.

  1. Tell us about an experience that you think could only have happened to you.

I don’t know if I can narrow it down to just one experience, but I’ve had a collection of experiences that led to me breaking at least one bone on each limb of my body. Unfortunately, some limbs have been subject to multiple breaks. On the bright side, it did allow me to get over any potential fears of doctors or hospitals at a very young age!

  1. What have you found in your first week at TMC that you didn’t expect?

I shouldn’t say I didn’t expect the friendliness I have encountered from the rest of the staff at the Mission Continues, but how helpful and friendly everyone has been has gone beyond anything I could have anticipated.  It makes me very thankful for the opportunity and strengthens my resolve in knowing I made the right decision to join the team.

  1. If you had to be a tv character, who would you be and why?

Lucy Ricardo. She lived life to the fullest. No matter the absurdity, she always went after what she wanted and had a ton of fun doing it. She was a loving wife, a loyal and entertaining friend.

  1. What is your most overused phrase?

My most overused phrase is most likely “you know? I add it to everything in conversation, you know?

Interested in joining the team? You’re in luck, because The Mission Continues is hiring!
