The Philadelphia Platoon is a Platoon dedicated to all the communities we serve. Our primary focus is on neighborhood beautification but we also support organizations that focus on addressing homelessness, food insecurity, and educational needs. Originally formed in 2014, the Philadelphia Service Platoon was reinvigorated in 2022. Our partners include Furtick Farms in the Nicetown area, where we have helped transform the farm into a wonderful place where the community can come together to garden, gather, and share resources. Projects at Furtick Farms have included the creation of outdoor reflection areas for gathering spaces and food gardens that help feed local families. While committed to supporting the Nicetown community, which will always be at the center of the platoon’s efforts, in 2023 the platoon expanded its operational focus and partnered with Martin Luther King High School in the East Germantown area. Projects have included school beautification, which facilitates a positive learning environment, and creating and supporting job fairs for students to offer post-graduation opportunities. Our other partners include Who So Ever Gospel Mission and Center in the Park. Our service with these organizations helps the Germantown area homeless and elderly population receive a wide variety of supportive services.
