Veterans Day of Service

November 11, 2017

Atlanta Platoon

Event overview

We created a great space, and now it needs to be completed. There are a few things that we wanted to do, but ran out of time, so we are going to return to this awesome park and make it even better! We are going to partner with the Friends of the Park to host this service project and outreach event. We are going to engage the local homeless veterans that have been using this park. Friends of the Park is going to have a Veterans Day Cookout to honor the communities veterans at Mattie Freeland Park. There are a few projects that need to get completed. We are going to finish spreading the gravel on the walking path, and secure the edging that has come loose, install the basketball hoops and backboards, finish the planter boxes, and replace the colored plexi-glass that is broken. Also, we will do a community and heighborhood clean up. Additionally, there are some other surprises being planned that will make this day even better! Sign up now to get all the details as they become available. Additionally, Westside Volunteer Corps is having an event the same day! It will be at the Joseph and Sarah Caring for Vets house on Sunset Ave. Here is the link to their page to see what is happening there: http://my.unitedwayatl.org/westsidevolunteercorps/uwga-nov-signup.html
