For many years, Maria Sola Green Space had been run by a local resident and former golden glove boxer named Jose Rodriguez. He was a retired NYC Parks worker who personally started the space in 1992 naming it after his wife, Maria Sola. When he became ill in 2016, a group of local residents took over the space building on what Jose already started by enhancing the space to make it available to community members for hosting social, art, and music events. Join the Bronx Platoon as we build a Kiosk, a children's sandbox, and giant Jenga set for the community. Please wear a mask and all social distance guidelines will be strictly followed. If you are feeling ill please notify the platoon leader at afulgencio@missioncontinues.org and do not attend the event.
