June 21, 2020

05:30 PM - 06:00 PM CDT

Houston Platoon

Event overview

The mission of Houston's 4th platoon is to combat the ever growing crisis of food deserts in Sunnyside, Southpark, Thirdward Houston. Blodgett Urban Gardens’ purpose is to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to eradicate chronic malnutrition and hunger through gardening and other sustainability practices. When you register for this event, we will send you: • Instructions on how to maintain your piece of Blodgett Urban Gardens • A small variety of seeds directly from the garden • Resources and materials to plant the seeds • Limited edition The Mission Continues #4thPlatoon service bracelet Here’s where things get really fun, at a later date, we will all meet at the TSU garden and plant them into an actual garden bed! The produce reaped from this garden bed will be donated to residents of the community, free of charge. Our mission is an important one, but there is nothing more important than the safety of our team and supporters. The health and safety of our program participants, staff, guests and community partners is of paramount importance to us so we will be bringing the garden to your doorstep. Don't forget to use the hashtags #CharlieMike #Houston4thPlatoon #PlantTheSeedHTX4 so that we can see all your fun family photos!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
