Event overview

Located in the middle of Thirdward on the campus of Texas Southern University, Blodgett Urban Gardens’ purpose is to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to eradicate chronic malnutrition and hunger through gardening and other sustainability practices. As Houston's 4th Platoon, our mission is to combat the ever growing crisis of food deserts. Our goal is to educate the community while expanding sanction for green-spaces to thrive. We are accepting all ages of volunteers and the only thing that is needed from you is a great attitude! Everything else will be onsite. We will be tasked with the following: -Supporting the weekly farmer's market onsite -Clearing out areas of the lot -Gardening tasks -Painting -Building -Clean-up and much more!

There will be minimal street parking. We have partnered with TSU to validate parking in their garages.

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
