Event overview

"Everybody can be great... because anyone can serve." To celebrate MLK National Day of Service, the Boston 1st Service Platoon is teaming up with Breaktime Cafe for a transformative service project. Join our veterans and community volunteers as we help Breaktime Cafe launch their new transitional employment program for young adults experiencing homelessness, where they can learn tangible hospitality, business, food/beverage skills to support them in achieving future full-time employment. We will be projects that include painting, deep-cleaning, and construction. This project is for ages 16+ and lunch will be provided.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
