MLK National Day of Service

January 25, 2020

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM PST

Seattle Platoon

Event overview

Martin Luther King Jr. was, is a hero of our time who epitomized selfless service and sacrifice for the common goods, for social progress and social justice. It is in his vision that we welcome you and are excited to host the first major service project in 2020 in conjunction with our national remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Come out for a great day at the Danny Woo Community Garden! We'll be tackling a large pile of garden debris and breaking in our brand new wood chipper, as well as spreading mulch and general clean-up to help winterizing the garden. Activity level-mild, good for all ages. It'll be a great day of getting your hands dirty, planting seeds of hope, and growing new friendships. The work we'll be doing with help the community garden bloom into the New Year, ready to be utilized and appreciated by the community that loves it. Come out and join us for a FANTASTIC day of service!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
