Back Into The Garden

November 16, 2019

08:30 AM - 01:00 PM EST

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

Join us as we go back to Mt. Vernon High School and close the garden we supported in April during Operation Legacy. Over the past 4 years, Mt. Vernon High School, and their joint efforts with A Place To Stand Org, has donated over 100,000 lbs of food locally. On Nov 16th, we'll be supporting this ongoing effort with a project in the onsite community garden. In coordination with the School Garden Club, 3rd Platoon will clear brush, add soil, add new raised beds and winterize the garden, we will also be adding paint to the benches we build in April to brighten up the garden over the winter. This garden has been key for the High School over the past season teaching students STEM related subjects related to gardening and earth science. Snacks and plenty of warm drinks and water will be available for all volunteers who join us. To help us keep an accurate count for food and water, PLEASE register for yourself and any other volunteers you plan to bring. Lastly there will be plenty of work to do so bring your family and friends.
