Energy Day is Houston’s largest annual FREE family STEM festival showcasing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Energy Day has nearly 84 interactive demonstrations and exhibits that teach at-risk students, youth and their families about the various forms of energy through STEM fields, along with efficiency, conservation, and other related STEM industries and award over $22,000 in awards. To continue the mission of serving at-risk youth, make your way to Energy Day! Would you like to be an inspiration to at-risk youth in the Houston community? Lead through example by encouraging low-income students and their families to engage in academics through fun and meaningful activities. Children from over 13 local school districts will have a memorable day! Join us at Energy Day and work alongside other community partners from the energy industry to change lives through a fun, interactive experience. List of activities includes, but not limited to: Change young lives Set up and tear down Coordinate youth activities Assist with bus operations Assist with exhibitor and booth operations Award Education Prizes Provide transportation direction Support Green Efforts Interact with students And so much more! We need your MAN/WOMEN energy and power. The Mission Continues is known to bring out the best volunteers and we need you. All hands are welcome from age 0 – 120 (Youth under 16 years old with adult supervision). We are determined to make a huge impact on the at-risk student community and the more volunteers we have the bigger the impact.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.  

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon? 

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively. 

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
