Join us in Yosemite August 23-25 for a service project and park exploration. The project takes place on Aug 24th at 9 am but we will have lodging arrangements for Friday and Saturday night. Below is a briefing on the work we can expect to complete. This project is capped at 15 so please register quickly.
Park managers in the branch of Vegetation and Ecological Restoration at Yosemite are managing for resilient vegetation communities in Yosemite National Park in the face of increased visitation, climate change, and habitat fragmentation. We need help from able and willing volunteer groups to participate in this park-wide effort. Volunteers will assist Restoration Rangers in an array of projects including: Merced River Plan Restoration Projects, Wetland Restoration Projects, Invasive Plant Management Projects, Mariposa Grove restoration, conifer removal, and others as needed. Each of these projects has different needs and occurs at different times of the year in varying locations. If you select Vegetation and Restoration Projects, you will be given tasks appropriate for your group’s needs and abilities based off the information you provide us in your project request form. If you have a preference for any of the following tasks or have a group with specific needs please don’t hesitate to ask for accommodations or a specific task. You will likely be doing more than one of these tasks, especially if you have a larger group. Potential Tasks (season dependent) include: seed, duff, and log collection; invasive plant removal; small conifer removal and piling; soil decompaction with shovels and landscape contouring; planting and salvaging plants.

Certain host organizations, such as schools, may prohibit volunteers with certain types of criminal convictions from participating in a service project. Accordingly, The Mission Continues is requesting your consent to conduct a criminal background check in the event that your Platoon is engaging in a service project with a host organization that requires a criminal background check. By checking the box below, you authorize The Mission Continues to conduct a criminal background check.
If such a background check is required, it will be completed and used in accordance with applicable law. The Mission Continues does not automatically disqualify persons from Platoons based on criminal convictions. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to move forward in their lives through service, at the same time that we seek to protect the communities we serve together.
