Service Project

United In Service Detroit - Day 1

September 13, 2019

09:00 AM - 03:30 PM EDT

Detroit Platoon

Event overview

On the anniversary of the events of 9/11/2001, we remember those who fearlessly and courageously served in the face of adversity by continuing to serve in their honor. Join Detroit Platoons as we continue our mission to support Detroit youth, by creating safe, inviting, and green spaces for them to learn and gather. In honor of 9/11 Day of Service, Detroit Platoons will be hosting volunteers over a 2-day project at the Boys & Girls Club. Indoor and outdoor projects will include the creation of a butterfly garden, mural painting, securing safe routes in the neighborhood, creating shade structures, and more. Register for one or both projects now, and stay tuned for additional updates!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
