Detroit Platoon

Event overview

Have you heard about the amazing benefits of mindfulness, breath work, and stretching that yoga provides? What about GOAT therapy?? Find out for yourself by joining Detroit 1st and 2nd Platoons as we head over to Pingree Farms for GOAT YOGA! What Is Goat Yoga? Certified yoga instructors will blend movements and gentle stretches with the playful antics of live kid goats. Try the “downward goat” or “stretching kid” poses. You don’t want to miss this unscripted one-of-a-kind experience. All you need is your mat, a sense of adventure, and a water bottle—we will provide the rest. Proceeds from the event will go to support Pingree Farms Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Pingree Farms serves as a catalyst for growing Detroit neighborhoods through education, volunteerism, partnerships, leadership, and action through agriculture. Connect with your breath, fellow veterans, and some baby goats! Reserve your FREE spot to this event by RSVPing here: these free registrations are reserved for veterans, platoon members, and platoon community members. All others are encouraged to join us by registering themselves at https://pingreefarms.org/goat-yoga/ THINGS TO KNOW -The goats do occasionally defecate and urinate. We have a team that will quickly clean up after such an event but please be aware that there is the possibility of these substances encountering your belongings. -Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the start of class time.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
