Come out and help us blaze a trail with CarMax, Wasserman Foundation and The Portland Trail Blazers at New Urban High School. New Urban is an alternative school in Oak Grove which seeks to help children in the area facing extraordinary challenges in their lives. New Urban strives to provide relevant and challenging educational opportunities and life skills within a caring and positive school climate by developing strong relationships. Students choose to take part in an innovative and unique educational experience that offers them a chance to be productive citizens of their community. Many students who may have ended up as another statistic have been helped by New Urban and have not only graduated high school but also go on to college.
Come out and work alongside Blaze - the Trail Cat, the BlazerDancers and both Jake Layman and Jusuf Nurkic. We will be replacing fencing, replacing basketball goals, building picnic tables and working to increase the overall ambiance of the school. New Urban is also co-located with the Boys and Girls club. Everything we do on this project not only helps the students but will also help the children in the community who come here after school. So strap on your boots, grab your gloves and let's do some work!!!

Certain host organizations, such as schools, may prohibit volunteers with certain types of criminal convictions from participating in a service project. Accordingly, The Mission Continues is requesting your consent to conduct a criminal background check in the event that your Platoon is engaging in a service project with a host organization that requires a criminal background check. By checking the box below, you authorize The Mission Continues to conduct a criminal background check.
If such a background check is required, it will be completed and used in accordance with applicable law. The Mission Continues does not automatically disqualify persons from Platoons based on criminal convictions. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to move forward in their lives through service, at the same time that we seek to protect the communities we serve together.
