DFW Platoon

Event overview

Fort Worth Platoon, we have received the call to action on this year's Veteran Day! Come and join us as all of our North Texas Platoons come together with Wounded Warrior Project to renovate and revamp the Vet Lounge and Assistance Center at UTA! Extreme Makeover Style! The Veteran Lounge and Assistance Center helps military connected students with a wide range of educational needs whether that is in the beginning stages by showing them to how to apply to college with UTA, how to utilize their GI Bill benefits, or how to successfully navigate a college lifestyle and become successful and prepared for a career outside of the service. Not to mention, the Lounge and Center provide a safe space for the student veterans a place to study, vent, and seek comradery with fellow students. With our help, UTA can continue to provide outstanding services in both locations to their large military connected student population. We'll be breaking up into teams to get the work done below: 1. Paint all walls 2. Install new cabinets 3. Replace carpet with new flooring 4. Install new counter tops, faucet and sink 5. Assemble new office chairs 6. Install new Fridge, Ice Maker & microwave 7. Plant new shrubs, bulbs and perennial plants for curbside appeal Let's do this! And afterwards, we will celebrate with a barbecue lunch.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
