Where We’re Serving
Home of the Bulldogs, David Starr Jordan High School joined The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools in 2011. Located in Watts and led by Principal Carlos Montes, Jordan is the only high school in Watts that offers an interdisciplinary College Preparatory Program that includes: Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes, an Art Academy, an award winning Athletics Program for girls and boys, as well as a Special Needs Program that meets the complex demands of its exceptional learners. Jordan is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through 2022, and is proud to serve the entire community and all learners.
Why We’re Serving
Jordan High School has undergone an incredible renovation in the past few years, and we’re joining in efforts to lend an extra group of capable hands. The school serves local youth from the neighboring four public housing developments. On this day of service, volunteers and students will serve together to create a positive example of civic engagement within a community on the rise. This project is another step forward in our continued investment in Jordan High School.
What We’ll Be Doing
Renovate - Overhauling the school’s weight room by demolishing old lockers, installing new mirrors and workout equipment, adding a fresh coat of paint, and upgrading message boards.
Beautify - Adding plants and landscaping to bring color and vibrancy to the school’s grounds.
Transform - Converting an existing baseball field into a multi-sports field, complete with newly built bleachers, benches, and dugouts for fans and teams to enjoy.
