Fort Ebey...Deception Pass...both parts of Washington history that you just have to see to believe. Last year, TMC joined forces with the service members of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, the Rangers of our National Parks Service, members of the National Parks Conservation Association and some awesome community members from Whidbey Island, for a Day of Service at the Fort Ebey National Historic Site. It was an amazing day...and now...TMC is heading back to continue this tradition, and to show how much we care about our parks. So come join the members of the Seattle 2nd Platoon on May 19th, 2018 for what promises to be another unforgettable experience. We'll be tending to a path, building a bench to enjoy the view from, and cleaning up an interpretive exhibit that teaches visitors about the park. Not only is May 19th Armed Forces Day...but it's also the 99th Anniversary of the National Parks Conservation Association...there is not a better day to be out in our parks making a difference, and having an impact. When: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm work. 5:00 pm -- group dinner. Meeting place: Ebey's Reserve HQ at 162 Cemetery Road, Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Use the Mukilteo to Clinton ferry, which runs every 30 minutes. It's about 45 minutes from the Clinton ferry landing to the meeting site. So the 8:00 or 8:30 am ferry from Mukilteo would be best. Work involved: hiking on dirt/sand trail 1-2 miles to work sites, carrying driftwood/wooden water bars/buckets of sand, working outdoors all day, walking up and down some hills. Provided: work gloves, tools, materials As always...entry is FREE, as we hit the trail for an awesome Service Project, and enjoy the park for all of it's majesty. Kids are more than welcome, as long as they're accompanied by an adult. Note that there is more walking and carrying heavy wood involved in this project, so participants should be up for that This one is going to be awesome...you DO NOT want to miss it.
