Service Project

Saguaro Camp & Trail Restoration

March 17, 2018

07:00 AM - 11:45 PM MST

Phoenix Platoon

Event overview

Who wants to go camping and hiking while also doing some awesome volunteer work at a National Park? We are looking for 11 people to help do trail maintenance in partnership with the National Park Service at Saguaro National Park. We are heading out the morning of 17 March and coming back the afternoon of the 18th. We will be working to restore a 3-mile section of Rincon Creek Trail. There is less than 800 feet elevation gain in this section of the trail, so the team will begin with an easy hike to the 3 mile mark and will begin trail restoration efforts as they work their way back to the trail head. Restoration efforts will include digging irrigation trenching and trimming back branches and brush along the trail. Bringing your own camping gear and a sense of adventure strongly encouraged. If you don’t have your own camping gear we will work together to see who can share or has extra gear to lend. We're also able to rent camping gear, if need be. This is an amazing opportunity and we hope you can join us!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
