Who wants to go camping and hiking while also doing some awesome volunteer work at a National Park? We are looking for 11 people to help do trail maintenance in partnership with the National Park Service at Saguaro National Park. We are heading out the morning of 17 March and coming back the afternoon of the 18th.

We will be working to restore a 3-mile section of Rincon Creek Trail. There is less than 800 feet elevation gain in this section of the trail, so the team will begin with an easy hike to the 3 mile mark and will begin trail restoration efforts as they work their way back to the trail head. Restoration efforts will include digging irrigation trenching and trimming back branches and brush along the trail.

Bringing your own camping gear and a sense of adventure strongly encouraged. If you don’t have your own camping gear we will work together to see who can share or has extra gear to lend. We're also able to rent camping gear, if need be.

This is an amazing opportunity and we hope you can join us!

What To Wear :

Sturdy work boots (or at the very least closed toed shoes...if folks show up in sandals they can not participate), Long pants (leggings or "yoga" pants will not work), Sun glasses, Hat (Wide-Brim is better but a ball cap will work), Warm clothes for night (Lately been in the lower 40's at night).

What To Bring :

Volunteers should pack a lunch for when we arrive and eat breakfast before we head out from Phoenix. Additionally, you will need: Sleeping Bag, sleeping pad, tent, water container for the day (At least 4 liters per person per day), Tupperware container for food and a backpack to carry belongings in. Please notify me if you are having trouble finding equipment.

Parking :

We will meet at the parking lot of the Jack in the Box at 1001 N 24th Street in Phoenix. Attendees can either ride in a rental van or drive their own POV in a caravan with the others. Anyone parking for the weekend and riding in the rental van will be encouraged to park their vehicle in Lot F of the Maricopa Integrated Health Systems visitor parking lot across Roosevelt St. from the Jack in the Box.
