New Orleans Platoon

Event overview

This year marks the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and The Mission Continues NOLA 1st Platoon is issuing a call to serve and stand united. We are organizing service a project for veterans and local volunteers to come together, make a difference in their community, and remember those who served and sacrificed in the wake of 9/11. Join us as we honor 9/11 with a project with SBP. SBP is a disaster relief organization that serves low - to moderate - income residents with a special focus on families with small children, the elderly, disabled persons, war veterans and the under- and uninsured. We will be supporting their Opportunity Homes in Lower Ninth Ward. Opportunity Homes are built on abandoned or blighted properties and sold as affordable housing to first time home buyers. Our project tasks will include building garden beds, helping with landscaping and the build of 2 of their Opportunity Homes. Note: No one under 14 years of age will be allowed on the project site.
