Earth Month: Rooted in Service

This April, The Mission Continues invites you to celebrate Earth Month by joining the Earth Month: Rooted in Service campaign! It's a time to take action, honor our planet, and uplift communities through veteran-led service projects.

Why Earth Month Matters: Earth Month is more than just a celebration—it's a call to action. Every April, we unite to amplify sustainability efforts, create lasting community impact, and foster a sense of shared responsibility for our environment. With Earth Day, National Volunteer Week, and National Volunteer Month all happening in April, there are countless ways to get involved.

Tasks include:
-Weeding
-Planting
-Defining garden paths and beds with mulch and compost
-Other garden tasks
-Litter pick up

Join the Movement: Join us at the Hazelwood Community Garden for an inspiring day of service! We're collaborating with Hazelwood Local, Hazelwood Initiative, and the Hazelwood Community Garden for this project. We'll refresh the gardne and bring it to life —turning it into a vibrant, welcoming hub for our community to thrive. Let's roll up our sleeves and make an impact!

Be Part of the Change: Now is the time to act. Whether planting trees, removing invasive species, or building sustainable community spaces, your contributions make a difference. Let's cultivate a future rooted in compassion, sustainability, and shared purpose.

See you out there!

UPDATE: Date and time changed! Event taking place on the afternoon of 4/19.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
