Recently a new initiative of Community Partners has emerged with The Mission Continues and Nos Quedamos. This has given a renewed interest of resiliency in the face of climate change and subsequent natural disasters. We're rebuilding the garden for community members, garden volunteers and the community of West Farms.
This is in an effort for the community to join this greenspace, begin again, and rebuild a past legacy of community engagement with this garden. Nos Quedamos, Greenthumb, and The Mission Continues partnered to help infuse new energy into the garden. Through Nos Quedamos' Resiliency Hub Project, they are introducing a Renewable Energy and Sustainability Initiative.
As our first Saturday for National Earth Month service event, April 5th will launch the construction phase and continued beautification to provide public access to the underserved community.
The Mission Continues will assist in the following:
- Build-out of a multi-use deck for stage performances
- Destroying old wooden garden beds for 8 new metal garden beds
- A tree/puppet house for children's programming
- Paving area under their pergola
- Moving 4 raised planting beds while building/installing 4 new raised planting beds
- Installing wire mesh across the front fencing of the garden to protect from vermin
We're increasing capacity by reimagining the garden for planting & upgrading event space. We need all hands on deck to make this ambitious undertaking a reality. Breakfast, lunch and a sense of community will be provided for volunteers. We hope you'll join us... Charlie Mike!
