Event overview

Join Us This February 1st for #LegacyofService: Honoring MLK Day with Action with one of our two amazing projects to choose from!

This February 1st, The Mission Continues is calling you to serve in celebration of The Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service through #LegacyofService!

MLK Day is more than a day off—it's a day to honor those who have fought and continue to fight for equality and justice, both in and out of uniform. We recognize the impact of activism and the power of citizens working together for a brighter future. While we've made great strides, there's still work to be done, and veterans are uniquely suited to lead this positive change.

Join us back at the Mountain View Elementary in Lacey to build some benches for the kids to sit on at recess and doing some landscaping around the play area. Specifically mulching, hedge trimming and weed control.
This is one of a few fantastic opportunities to give back to our everyday heroes and honor Dr. King's dream of equality. All ages and skill levels are welcome—let's make a difference together!

If you are free on January 25th and don't mind driving north, you can spend your time over at the South Shore Pre K located at 4800 S Henderson St. or February 8th at the Seattle VA Fisher House, here are the links to those projects. Please sign up!

See you there rain or shine! We will call the project if there are thunderstorms and heavy rain but will hope for the Western Washington drizzle.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
