Event overview

PLT615 is supporting the Mill Creek Watershed Association for a second morning of trash clean up along the Collins Creek river behind the Avana Collins Creek Apartments and Home Depot off Bell Rd. Mill Creek Watershed Association (MCWA) will be our onsite hosts for this event . MCWA is dedicated to providing education and support for improving and protecting the beautifully unique Mill Creek Watershed. The Watershed encompasses agricultural lands, suburban communities, urban neighborhoods, congested commercial areas, industrial areas and the Nashville airport. The watershed covers 108 square miles and is home to a vibrant blend of culturally diverse human communities that share the region with a beautiful biologically diverse community of plants and animals native to Middle Tennessee. The Collins Creek feeds into that watershed. Parking and meet up location: Avana Apartment Complex parking area at 1157 Bell Road (see attached map) and walk over to the site. You may also choose to park in the Home Depot Parking area. Meet at the dead end at 5244 Cane Ridge Road. No experience is necessary. All ages are welcome. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Join us after the clean up at Blue Hole Farm where our community partners have agreed to host us for refreshments! #OperationFortify

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
