United in Service 2024- Bosque Susua Phase II

October 05, 2024

08:00 AM - 03:00 PM ADT

Puerto Rico Platoon

Event overview

Twenty-three years ago, on September 11th, our nation was forever changed. In remembrance of the lives lost and the spirit of sacrifice shown that day, the PR Platoon invites you to join us for a day of service and unity. The Mission Continues, in collaboration with Team Rubicon, el Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales, Boy Scouts of America Troop 1032, and Disabled American Veterans, will come together to assist in opening trails, painting a mini basketball court, gazebos, and picnic tables, and creating a small TMC mural at the facilities of Bosque Estatal de Susua.

This project will be carried out in two or three phases. Our priority is to open El Águila Trail, which spans 1.5 miles, followed by work on opening the Las Torres and Ruta al Río trails. Phase one is scheduled for June 22, 2024, and phase two for September 7, 2024.

This is more than just volunteer work—it’s a chance to connect with others, reflect on the significance of 9/11, and make a lasting impact in our community. Whether you’re a veteran, a family member, or a dedicated community member, your participation will make a difference. Together, we’ll honor the past by making PR stronger, better, and more connected. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of something truly special!

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
