Marine Corps Toys for Tots Ruck

December 17, 2023

11:15 AM - 01:00 PM EST

New York City Platoon

Event overview

The mission of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children.

On Sunday, December 17th, join Team RWB, Big Apple Area Ruckers (B.A.A.R) & United War Veterans Council (UWVC) on a Toys for Tots NYC Ruck.

This 1.5-mile ruck is family friendly and we will move at a conversational pace.

The concept is to carry your gifts inside your ruck/pack, while having great camaraderie and meeting new friends. Please bring an unwrapped toy (or shove as many toys as you can) in your ruck/pack to donate to the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.

• 11:30am meet up at the Lincoln Center Plaza Fountain.

• The 1.5 mile ruck route will cover the most seasonally decked out parts of NYC. We will pass by Central Park South, the Plaza Hotel, 5th Ave shops and window displays and St Patrick’s Cathedral before finishing at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, where the U.S. Marines will meet us to receive the toys.

• Participants will receive a free Nutcracker Christmas ruck patch courtesy of the United War Veterans Council which was designed by Carlos Orduz (B.A.A.R).

PLEASE CONSIDER BRINGING A NEW, UNWRAPPED TOY TO BE GIFTED TO TOYS FOR TOTS!

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
