Event overview

Ready For An Adventure? Come join The Mission Continues Lowell Platoon for a spring whitewater rafting trip on the Concord River with Zora's Outdoor Adventures, Saturday May 13th 12:45pm - 4:00pm, Zora's professional whitewater rafting guides have years of experience guiding everyone from beginners to experts down mellow floats to Class IV thrillers. With their highly trained guides, excellent safety record and state-of-the-art rafting equipment, Zora's guides give you the security of knowing you are in expert hands. The Concord River is an urban gem that plunges over three major class III-IV rapids - Twisted Sister, Three Beauties, and The Middlesex Dam. When the water level is right, Three Beauties becomes an intensely fun surfing hole. A portion of the proceeds from this trip benefit the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust, working to preserve green space in the city of Lowell. Please arrive at 12:45pm! We will meet our tour guide in front of the UMass Lowell's Inn and Conference Center for gear issue and briefing. Email me your height, weight and shoe size for wet suit and water boots. Limited space is available so participants MUST REGISTER. Please email me if there are cancellation or to be put on a waiting list! This an adult only event! Must be 18 or older to register and attend.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
