The word ‘Ujima’ originates from Kwanzaa, meaning collective work and responsibility. The Ujima Community Garden stands for just that. Once a vacant lot, full of contaminated soil, it has finally transformed into a beautiful garden, thanks to the many partners and residents who have contributed to its development. This garden represents the life and beauty of the community in West Humboldt Park! We need your help! The garden is in need of some transformation and new flowers, as well as some cleanup around the perimeter. We will be planting and preparing the garden for harvest in the coming months. Come join us for some gardening, clean-up, and lunch! Look forward to seeing y'all out!
