Bynum Island is a low ropes action/training course that serves schools and community groups throughout the city of Chicago. The course engages the physical, cognitive, and social resources of each participant and challenges them to break away from standard routines and problem solving and require cooperation, goal-setting, creativity, risk-taking, teamwork, communication, accountability, leadership. It also serves as a host to family camping and fishing programs through the Chicago Public Parks. The Mission Continues will work to repair/replace many of the challenges, create new challenges, and add to the capacity of the outdoors programs by building fishing boardwalks, benches, picnic tables, and other public resources. There are more than a dozen obstacle course stations that will we be rebuilding. We are also honored to be teaming with the Pat Tillman Foundation for this event and are excited to bring in other community partners to make an impact in Chicago.
