In coordination with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the Mayor’s Office, and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, we are planning a two-day event at Westinghouse Park in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. The history of the park is clouded by racial and neighborhood tensions. More recent efforts have been made to make Homewood residents feel welcome at the park and we aim to continue those efforts through this event.
Over the course of 2 days, we will clean and repaint the basketball court, install new nets, build picnic tables that are ADA accessible, build planter benches, paint the park building on property, and complete general park clean-up/maintenance to possibly include the planting of additional trees.
Saturday's tasks will include building the picnic tables and planter benches and painting both the court and building.
Registration is required as we will be providing lunch. If you plan to volunteer both days, please sign up for both events.
