The Mission Continues Baltimore Platoon - Earth Day Event

Join The Mission Continues Baltimore Platoon for Earth Day!

Come together with The Mission Continues Baltimore platoon on April 5th at Filbert Street Garden https://filbertstreetgarden.org/ to make a meaningful impact in our community to commemorate Earth Day. This is your chance to experience the camaraderie and teamwork from working alongside veterans and community members. Whether you’re a veteran or not, you’ll gain a unique perspective on service as we all unite to give back to under-resourced communities. Through your efforts, you'll help foster a sense of purpose, connection, and growth among those who have served our country. Report for duty in your community and be part of something bigger. Serve at home and make a difference where it matters most!

During this project, we will be doing the following activities:

  • Construct and establish new garden spaces, including raised beds, soil preparation, planting, to create sustainable and functional green areas.
  • Perform a comprehensive clean-up and beautification of public spaces by clearing a large brush pile to improve the space, removing litter, trimming overgrown plants, and making minor repairs to create a more welcoming and attractive environment.
  • Maintain and enhance existing garden areas by removing debris and clearing the fence line to keep the garden looking great to promote healthy growth and a clean environment.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
