Join The Mission Continues 1st & 2nd Platoons PHX to support the PHX Renews Community Garden and local nonprofits through various tasks to help spruce up the community space after a tough summer of heat & monsoon damage. A project by the nonprofit Keep Phoenix Beautiful, PHX Renews is the largest transformation of vacant land in the country and aims to transform vacant lots across the city of Phoenix into temporary, sustainable, community spaces. We will serve alongside veteran MANA House Residents & 50 Marines in town for Marine Week, planting a garden where produce goes back to the MANA House, a transitional housing facility for veterans. We'll also help establish and plant a new educational garden with The Mollen Foundation to be used by students from ASU Preparatory School, reconstructing the International Rescue Committee’s wash station where fresh produce from the 2-acre garden goes to be washed before transport., and replacing shade material on structures throughout the PHX Renews site as well as rotating art panels. Youth are most welcome to serve with us, please keep heat in mind. In 2009, Congress designated September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, inspiring volunteers across the country in reclaiming the legacy of 9/11 by serving communities and solving the challenges communities face. Thanks to the strong support of tens of thousands of nonprofits, employers, faith organizations, schools and other organizations around the nation, 9/11 is now this nation’s largest day of charitable engagement. Last year a record 35 million people observed 9/11 by performing good deeds and engaging in service activities that help others. See you there!
