More than 5,000 community members came together in 112 cities nationwide this past weekend for Run As One. The event, a series of 5K run/walks held simultaneously across the country, is coordinated each year by Team Rubicon, Team Red, White and Blue and The Mission Continues.
Run As One in New York City
In Washington, D.C., runners gathered for Run As One on the National Mall, just steps from the Vietnam Memorial. The course took runners on a loop around the Washington Monument before ending at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. As everyone came together for a celebratory photo, Washington, D.C. 2nd Service Platoon Leader Connor Mallon provided the group one last challenge. Run As One isn’t the average fun-run, Connor explained, it’s a reminder as to the importance of community.

Run As One was founded in memory of Marine Corps veteran Clay Hunt, a founding member of Team Rubicon and a Fellow of The Mission Continues. Clay tragically took his own life in 2011. Clay championed the need for veterans to find a new mission after the military and to look after their fellow veterans. His spirit was there for every step on Saturday.
