The Advisors

Advisors provide coaching to teams and individuals throughout the course of the program. Advisors facilitate trainings, mentor Corps members and support community partnerships. Each team is assigned an SLC Advisor to help achieve programmatic, team and individual goals.


Matt Landis

Matt Landis



Matt Landis is an innovator, speaker, and engineer with a background in data engineering, complex analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence. He served ten years in the U.S. Army as a Forward Observer and AH-64D Apache Longbow pilot, with two tours in Iraq. After separating from the military in 2009, he completed his engineering degree at the University of Pittsburgh and became a research engineer at the Human Engineering Research Lab, designing and developing advanced robotics solutions to communication, mobility and disability issues. In 2015, Matt founded and led the Homewood Platoon of The Mission Continues, working with the community to expand youth development and sports programming. In 2017, he started the Pittsburgh Chapter of No One Left Behind, which has relocated over 100 Afghan and Iraqi interpreters and their families to the city in its first year.


Kathy Mackie

Kathy Mackie



Kathy served in the United States Army for 22 years as a Professional Recruiter. She entered the nonprofit arena as a Program Manager for the Veterans Workforce Investment Program/Homeless Female Veterans and Operations GoodJobs in 2010 with Goodwill Houston. In 2014, Kathy joined the Houston 4th Service Platoon, which she then joined TMC on staff and has held several positions since. Kathy has many hobbies including reading, cooking, gardening, short runs-walks for medical research and cures of diseases. She is also a fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. Kathy and her husband reside in Houston TX and are blessed with 3 adult children, 1 granddaughter 2 bonus grandchildren.
