Event overview

To celebrate Veterans Day, let's represent The Mission Continues in a time-honored Detroit tradition: the Detroit Veterans Day Parade! Volunteers are needed to be part of the parade float, and to attend the VetsFest and Armed Services Salute event at the culmination of the parade in Hart Plaza, to help canvas and recruit volunteers to our Veterans Day service project the following weekend. Our Parade Float: We want to demonstrate what The Mission Continues is all about! So, we will have two small teams, one in the back of the pick up truck, and one on the trailer, BUILD KIDS PICNIC TABLES during the parade! The idea is we will have completed picnic tables to donate to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy by the end of the parade! Additional volunteers can march alongside the float and hand out SWAG to spectators. Volunteers will be needed to help prep lumber and supplies on Saturday, Nov. 4. (See separate registration link!) The parade stages at Martin Luther King High School located at 3200 E. Lafayette in Detroit and staging begins at 8:30AM but please arrive no later than 10:00AM. To just attend VetsFest and canvas, meet at The Mission Continues tent anytime between 11 AM and 2 PM. All are invited to simply attend as a spectator as well, just be sure to stop by our tent in Hart Plaza to say hello and pick up SWAG!
