Event overview

SUP platoon? That’s right Stand Up Paddle boarding is going on at Canyon Lake. Join Phoenix 1st Service Platoon and Wounded Warrior Project for lunch and an hour of stand up paddle boarding. If you have never done this then come learn, it’s a great way to work out the core and get a nice lunch in the sun. Canyon Lake lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) up the Apache Trail within the Superstition Wilderness of Tonto National Forest and is a popular recreation area for hiking trails, camping, and boating and various other water activities. This Social event will be restricted to 20 registrations and please be courteous if you cannot make it that you have emailed me to let me know that your slot is available for someone else. We are going to be meeting out near Boulder Recreation Site (https://goo.gl/maps/G85sqfgHTRt) where we will serve ourselves a provided picnic lunch. Be sure to wear your swim wear, lots of sunscreen and it doesn’t hurt to bring some extra water. Once we get settled and everyone is eating their lunch we will be happy to provide any information or answer questions about how our organizations are helping veterans. After that it’s a short demo by an instructor and away you go. Unless you have The America the Beautiful Access Pass then there is an $8 Tonto Parking Pass that can be purchased online or at any gas station or stops along highway 88. Otherwise those that possess The America the Beautiful Access Pass are then covered for entrance and standard amenity fees for pass owners and up to 3 additional adult accompanying passengers. Contact me by email if you would like to receive information on how you might be able to obtain you’re the America the Beautiful Access Pass. There are many state and federal benefits and programs available to veterans and their dependents.
