On Saturday August 19th, the Mission Continues Oakland 1st Service platoon will be supporting Habitat for Humanity and their Playhouse Program as we prepare playhouses for assembly in the Oakland workshop! Habitat selects local families and charities to receive completed playhouses. Many playhouses go to active military and veteran families, and non-profits in the area. Habitat for Humanity Eastbay/Silicon Valley’s Playhouse Program began in 2009 and has changed a lot over the past few years. Most of the Playhouse Builds take place at offsite locations. To successfully perform these offsite builds, the playhouse pieces are prepped beforehand. During a typical Prep day groups will have the opportunity to cut out playhouse pieces from raw plywood, base paint pieces of the playhouse, and machine windows and doors. No experience is necessary, but it is important to be on time so that you do not miss the orientation and key instructions. Please also plan to stay for the entire duration of the event. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers ages 16 - 18 must bring a signed minor waiver form with them to the site. Minor waiver forms are available here: http://www.habitatebsv.org/sites/default/files/2017%20Minor%20Waiver%20Template.pdf. In addition to signing up here, please register for the event using this link as you will use the profile that you create to sign the Habitat for Humanity liability waiver and sign in at the worksite: https://eastbay.volunteerhub.com/lp/missioncontinues/event/index/4817227
