Event overview

We have an awesome project being planned for the National Service day and 9/11! You won't want to miss this project helping create a great environment for school kids in Slavic Village. We have a lot to build and need your help! The plan is to build 3 reading lofts for the class rooms, a mobile chalk board for the playground, flower boxes, and a garden! Kids will be able to paint rocks to show off in the flower boxes! Here's a message from the principal: The majority of our students at Constellation Schools Eastside Arts Academy have a common denominator. That denominator is the traditional schools have failed them in one way or another. Whether the students’ grades dropped, were perpetually bullied, or were just a number among hundreds of other students, they were let down and left behind. The families of our students are good people that are working hard to provide a better life for their children. Educational opportunities are extremely limited in this area. Parents and families have a strong desire to give their children the best educational opportunity available. Quality education in the Slavic Village neighborhood is a difficult thing to find. As a charter school, our funding is extremely limited compared to the traditional schools. We accomplish much more than neighboring schools on far less funding, as we only receive federal funds. Local funding is reserved for the traditional city schools like Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Constellation Schools Eastside Arts Academy provides a safe and intimate high quality education. I know every single student’s name and something unique about them. Our parents see the value of what we do. We have high expectations, but deliver our education in a very individualized manner. Our students and families face many struggles that many of us can’t even imagine. Our students are so grateful to have teachers and administrators that truly look forward to seeing them each and every day. Our teachers miss our students when they are not at school. The opportunity to work with The Mission Continues will assist our school so very much. We are so appreciative to have been chosen, as we struggle each year to better our school on our limited funding and without any tuition paid at all to attend. Having reading lofts will increase student reading rates and will be a reward for reading! A mobile chalkboard will provide much needed activities while on recess and will also allow for outdoor learning. Flower beds will make our school beautiful and foster a love of horticulture. Lastly, painting in some key areas will allow us to spend critical funds in more helpful areas like field trips and library resources. Thank you so very much for working with our school! We are so excited to get started!
