Mobilize with DC 5th Platoon as we reinforce the farming infrastructure at Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture! This isn't just another day on the farm. Volunteers will assemble in small teams to accomplish big goals. Tasks include: • Rebuilding the education garden • Replacing the composting system • Revamping the production farm • Expanding on the natural play area 5th Platoon's leadership team is already on-the-ground at Arcadia, and our fellows are working hard to ensure we achieve a mighty impact. In the military, we're taught to train as we fight. At Arcadia, we train as we farm. In health there is freedom. Join us this June to see what sustainable farming is all about! Arcadia is a nonprofit that recognized the need to engage the farm community, beginning farmers, and the public to show that small-scale, sustainable farming can be economically viable, beneficial to the environment, and a source of healthy food for the community. In addition to training veterans to be farmers, Arcadia makes a difference in our broader community. Arcadia increases access to quality, healthy foods in Southeast DC and other areas through its mobile market, and inspires future generations through its farm to school education program. Clothes that can get dirty! Feel free to rock your straw hats, boro trousers, or, [insert] other farmer's gear for funsies. Wear your Mission Continues t-shirts. If you don't have a tee yet, let us know your shirt size, and we will hook you up!

What to Bring

You, your family, and friends for some hands-on community engagement. We'll take care of all the dirt and tools!
