Orlando Platoon

Event overview

The Mission Continues Orlando - 1st Platoon is again answering the call to support the Soldiers' Angels Hunger Relief Program at their Mobile Food Distribution to supply low-income veteran families with food assistance here in Orlando, FL. Many Veterans and their families have been affected by the recent economic struggles from the COVID pandemic. As the summer months begin to warm up it is even more important we have sufficient volunteers on-site so that we can provide needed breaks to ensure the safety of volunteers and to safely distribute the food to our brothers and sisters in need. Please come support this noble cause if you are able and willing. Many volunteers are choosing to "stay home" and TMC continues to support that decision. We are constantly monitoring the situation to ensure volunteer safety. If you are interested in remote opportunities to support your local platoons here in Orlando please contact me at dbird@missioncontinues.org. Please register with Soldier's Angels here: https://soldiersangels.formstack.com/forms/orlandomfdvol This volunteer opportunity requires standing, lifting and bending. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. These events are held outside, regardless of weather. Notes from Soldier's Angels: >If you have a compromised immune system, severe underlying health conditions, or you are ill yourself, please do not come to the event as a volunteer, spectator, or otherwise. >If you do show up at the event to volunteer or otherwise and display obvious signs of being ill, you will be asked to leave. >The use of work gloves and/or food service gloves will be mandatory by any and all individuals working at the event. Gloves will be provided. >Hand sanitizer will be provided. Please use hand sanitizer frequently during the event or feel free to bring your own that you can keep with you at all times. >Please refrain from shaking hands or making close contact with any of the attending veterans. The veterans have been asked to stay in their cars and refrain from getting out to congregate with other veterans or volunteers. Veterans have been asked to keep their windows closed and will communicate through a closed window. The only time they will be asked to roll down their window is to turn in their Food Bank forms, if applicable. >Please refrain from shaking hands or having close physical contact with any of the other volunteers, staff, etc. that are working the event as well. >This is a special circumstance with special precautions. It is possible that additional precautions will be asked of you the day of the event. Please take all of this information very seriously so we can all do our part to stop the spread and ensure our veterans have food on their table. CHARLIE MIKE!!!
