Our partners at St. Louis Urban League are doing large scale drive-through food distribution every Saturday and welcome additional hands. Platoon leadership attended they event last week to ensure we understood safety protocols. Event organizers provide hand sanitizer, water, masks, gloves, and neon vests for volunteers. We do not recommend that you attend if any member of your household is high risk. There are roles (directing traffic, etc) where you can stay apart from other volunteers. Some roles, such as packing produce, put you in closer proximity to other masked and gloved volunteers. It got a little hectic, but we served over 2,800 cars and over 3,000 families alongside other volunteers. We are posting this event because low-risk individuals can safely support this critical need in our community.
