Colorado Springs Platoon

Event overview

Alright, Colorado Springs 1st Service Platoon and anyone else who would like to join us! We have partnered w/ NPCA and our TMC national campaign #ROOTED IN SERVICE (https://missioncontinues.org/earth-day/) because EARTH DAY is right around the corner. We want to GET OUT and show them how TMC Colorado Springs too CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! We are going to do some VIRTUAL TRAIL CLEAN UPS. We are going to send prizes to some random winners - to include NPCA swag and gift cards to local small businesses! This way we can clean up our outdoor spaces and support our local businesses and partners! What to do: • Get OUTSIDE, get some FRESH AIR, keep your SOCIAL DISTANCE, and PICK-UP some TRASH! Don’t forget your trash bag and ENJOY YOUR WALK/HIKE. We, of course, suggest Palmer Park or the Sand Creek Trail...but get out anywhere and make a difference. Do it in your local neighborhood, park, or trail! • POST a PICTURE out at your chosen spot and NOTE THE LOCATION on our FACEBOOK PAGE or EMAIL it to me. Add HASHTAGS: #ROOTEDINSERVICE #TMCCOLORADOSPRINGS #CHARLIEMIKE • Go to NPCA’s My Park Story page and SHARE YOUR STORY (https://www.npca.org/myparkstory/form/the-mission-continues) • MOST IMPORTANTLY Practice PROPER SOCIAL DISTANCING! Don’t forget to wear your MASK and GLOVES! We can provide gloves and trash bags if needed - just PM, text, call or email me and we will arrange pick-up or delivery. o In all instances, the following guidance should be followed:  Do not use parks, trails and open spaces if you are exhibiting symptoms. If you or your children are experiencing symptoms, it’s important to stay home when sick.  Follow the CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of parks or trails. Bring hand sanitizer with you to clean your hands if soap and water are not available.STAY HOME WHEN SICK.  No organized group activities are allowed. This includes activities involving physical contact or sharing of equipment.  While on trails, warn other users of your presence before you pass, and step aside to let others pass. Signal your presence with your voice, bell or horn.  Observe the minimum recommended physical social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals outside your immediate family. If this is not possible, users should find an alternate location or depart that space. In many cases, especially on trails, this may mean creating a single-file line. If this is not possible, find an alternate location or depart that space.  Bring a suitable trash bag. Leave no trace, take everything out to protect park workers.  Do not touch any surfaces that are likely to be touched by other people. Playgrounds, pavilions and other gathering places are closed. Staff will be applying disinfectant weekly to all playground equipment. The product is EnvirOx H2Orange2. Its active ingredients are hydrogen peroxide and orange oil.  Users may find public restrooms closed. Be prepared before you leave and time outings so that you are not dependent on public restrooms.  Bring water or drinks. Public drinking fountains may be disabled and should not be used, even if operable. I listed Earth Day, 22 April as the "day of" the event - but you can do the clean-up any day you want and as many times as you want to before then and submit your picture(s) and location(s) to be entered to win the prizes! Miss you guys! Stay healthy!
