Help us reclaim the Indian Creek Trails in Clarkston!

Situated between Indian Creek Elementary School and the Friends of Refugees Jolly Avenue Garden lies a valuable and grossly underutilized neighborhood asset- The Indian Creek Trails.

Friends of Refugees and Indian Creek Elementary School began this project by creating a walking path through a dense forest area to reduce commute times for residents while increasing "positive" foot traffic to make it a less desirable place for illegal trespassing and misbehavior. The plan worked, and the neighborhood saw a fall in crime, as well as an opportunity to carve an even better set of trails throughout the woods that could become a learning asset and fitness resource for the community. To this day, the plan remains incomplete, with initially planned footpaths slowly reclaimed by the forest, and opportunities for enhanced student learning and community well-being continuing to be missed.

Join us this Veterans Day along with Friends of Refugees and Indian Creek Elementary School as we begin reclaiming the Indian Creek Trails.
