The Houston Food Bank has been working with Houston’s Military community to better address food insecurity issues facing Veterans, Reservists and their family members. One of the ways Houston Food Bank will be addressing food insecurity is providing mobiles at military focused events. The event is the first distribution the Houston Food Bank is having during a drill day. Volunteers will help with set up (tables, tents, etc.) and will help unload the food truck and arrange food on tables in a “Farmer’s Market” type style. Once people begin to arrive, volunteers will assist with crowd control, client sign-in and helping load vehicles for those who may need help. Volunteers should dress according to the weather, closed toed shoes are preferable. I would also suggest bringing a water bottle.
