Thank you for volunteering with Alleycat Acres at The new Wetmore Community Farm! Wetmore Ave S dead ends into a previously undeveloped Right of Way owned by Seattle Department of Transportation. The Moore family are long time residents who asked Alleycat Acres to help create a farm in this space. We recruited community members from Senior Housing Assistance Group, Rainier Valley Food Bank, HomeSight, and the Estelle Street P-patch to help design the space. The following provides a bit of information about the site, our projects for the day, and all important directions (it can be tricky to find your first time there). This project works in partnership with Alleycat Acres, The Mission Continues and Starbucks. Day-of Contact: Kyla (509)592-3711 Feel free to call or text with any questions. Address: 3525 S Estelle St (nearest property), Driving Directions: Headed south on Rainier Ave, turn left on Estelle Street, just before the blue Auto body shop. There is a white Taco bus and new construction across Rainier on the right. If you see Safeway you've gone too far south. Public Transit: From Mt Baker Transit Center or Link Station, walk 10 minutes south on Rainier until you reach Estelle and take a left. Bus route 7 will take you directly from downtown a bit closer to the garden, get off at Rainier Ave and S Stevens. The Project's Scope: - Mulching - Possible planting - Invasive species control We will provide gloves, tools, and light refreshments.
