Stand and Serve this Veterans Day with The Mission Continues! Veterans Day is a national day of service at The Mission Continues and we hope that you will join veterans and community members across the nation on November 10 who are working to strengthen the cities they live in. In Columbus, the 1st Service Platoon is expanding their fight on food insecurity through a new partnership this Veterans Day! The platoon has partnered with Hamilton Township High School (HTHS), the first purple star (military friendly) school in the nation, and the YMCA of Central Ohio to restore the greenhouse and gardens in Hoover Park to working order! Once up and running, the space will provide HTHS students the opportunity to explore urban gardening in a hand-on learning lab and all produce grown will go to support Columbus residents! Projects for the day include weeding the green house, building one large indoor garden box and two more outdoor garden boxes, adding compost to the soil and possibly installing a sprinkler system.
