Platoon Members, Our next service project will be with our partners Sankofa and their Wetlands Park project. The Sankofa Wetlands Park is in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood and was developed by Sankofa Community Development Corporation in partnership with Sewerage and Water Board and City of New Orleans. Sankofa worked with a team of wetland ecologists and landscape architects to transform this area into a space for environmental education, relaxation, and recreation for all to enjoy. To learn more about the project visit their website: http://sankofanola.org/sankofa-nature-trail-and-wetland-park/ Our role will be to build a gazebo, benches and a trail for visitors to enjoy as well as plant native trees. This event will be all day. If you can't commit to all day, no problem! Just let us know when you are available to help in the registration. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided. Children are welcome to attend. Please spread the word! We are very excited about this project! Our friends at Home Depot is sponsoring and joining us.
