For the past six years, The Mission Continues has pioneered a new way to ensure veterans successfully transition home: by asking them to serve again.
In 2013, we launched five Service Platoons across the country, engaging veterans in meaningful service once again. Platoons operate in teams of 30 to 45 veterans who work together to achieve a measurable goal in their community. In Washington, D.C., a platoon of veterans works to reduce hunger among inner-city youth. In Phoenix, a platoon works to eradicate homelessness, with a focus on bringing available and underutilized resources to homeless veterans.
Our work is not done. In 2014, we will bring more platoons of veterans to more cities. Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and stay current on upcoming volunteer opportunities in your community.
