Celebrating Five Years of Continued Service
This past August, The Mission Continues celebrated our fifth birthday as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and five years of continued veterans service. The Mission Continues' community of Fellows, staff and supporters were activated in events across the nation to recognize the achievement.
In Chicago, nearly 100 members of 2012 Fellowship Class Charlie convened for orientation, an intense three-day welcome to the Fellowship Program. In San Diego, California; Jacksonville, Florida, Erie, Pennsylvania, and other cities across the nation, Fellow Alumni led service projects aimed at bringing civilian and military volunteers together in united efforts of community improvement. In Belleville, Illinois, over 350 veteran, active-duty, and civilian volunteers gathered to repair a city park and cap-off our Summer Service Slam.
Our fifth birthday culminated in a special celebration in St. Louis, Missouri, the city that has supported our efforts since the very beginning and served as the home of our headquarters. As excited as we are to look back and celebrate our first five years, our focus is now on the next five years of service and continuing our pursuit of engaging this generation of veterans in service here at home.
