This year marks the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and The Mission Continues is issuing a call to serve and stand united. Houston 2nd Platoon is organizing a service project at Beauty's Community Garden for veterans and local volunteers to come together and make a difference in their community, and remember those who served and sacrificed in the wake of 9/11. This project will also support our Operation Nourish campaign. Join us as we help to sustain this amazing garden in Independence Heights! Lunch, water, Gatorade, and a TMC shirt will be provided to all volunteers. All skills and ages welcome. Mask, hand sanitizer, and gloves will be provided to all volunteers. Temperature will be checked upon arrival. Social distancing practices will be enforced. Project Scope: - Till existing soil to remove/uproot any remaining root systems of weeds - Plant drought tolerant herbs (Rosemary, Basil, Lavender, Lemongrass) and Aloe Vera throughout the space - Apply 4 inch layer of mulch - Plant passionflower vine to fill in northern half of fence - Using wood chips as a mulch for in between beds
